Students work entirely on their own, patiently guided by the on screen instructor. Clicknkids will work for beginning, struggling and learning disabled children, and teenagers.

They offer complete Pre-K to 5th grade Learn To Read and Spelling curriculums built into easy to use products. They use research based curriculums to meet and align with core school requirements. Clicknkids will also provide you with convenient and comprehensive progress reports that will show you which lessons’ your child needs to repeat.

My kids have used this site for several years. It is definitely a Pre-K through 1st grade site. Livvy dropped off this site as soon as she was reading. Kennedy is learning now and she enjoys this site. She hasn’t played around the Looney Tunes yet.

  • Huntington Learning Center

    Huntington Learning Center
Huntington Learning Center has served America’s students and families longer than any other tutoring provider. They help students’ ages 5 to 17 improve their grades, test scores and self-esteem. The success of their program lies in the one-to-one attention they devote to every child and the expertise of their caring, certified teachers.

Tutoring subjects include reading, phonics, study skills, mathematics, writing, vocabulary, test prep, high school entrance exam prep, and SAT/PSAT & ACT preparation.

Our experience at Huntington was very good. I agree that the one on one attention is what makes the difference here. For us the location was not convenient so we could not continue. Like other learning centers you need to cover ground work that your child knows in order to move forward.

  • Kumon

    Kumon
Kumon is the world’s largest after-school math and reading enrichment program. They allow students of all ages and abilities to develop the skills necessary to have a richer, more successful educational experience. It’s where they gain the confidence and motivation to learn, accomplish and achieve more on their own.

Kumon Math and Reading Programs can be tailored for advanced students who need to be challenged, or for students who need help catching up. They will design individualized programs that allow them to advance at their own pace, instilling in them a passion and desire to learn more.

Junior Kumon is designed specifically with younger children in mind. It helps foster a desire to learn while also preparing them for their first academic challenges in math and reading.

Both of my kids have learned at Kumon and I have Kennedy in the program right now. I have always liked Kumon and have recommended it to many friends. Kumon is best when you commit to a minimum of six months, the longer you stay in the more you gain. It is definitely a place where your child will learn the facts and learn them well. However, YOU need to be committed to the program in order for your child to succeed. I didn’t mind that they didn’t work one on one with a teacher because they did get attention whenever needed during their time in the center. The price is less expensive then tutoring and rightfully so, as YOU, the parent are the greatest teacher in this program. You work with your student daily on their worksheets. Your child visits the Kumon center once or twice a week. When they visit the center they do one days assignment and they hand in all of their completed work from the week. They get rewarded for the weekly work and for the achieved accomplishments. Kumon starts at pre-school and goes up to HS levels.

  • Mathnasium

    Mathnasium
Mathnasium’s goal is to significantly increase your child's math skills, understanding of math concepts, and overall school performance, while building confidence and forging a positive attitude toward the subject.

Mathnasium uses sophisticated techniques to determine what a student knows and does not know. The results are used to tailor-make a personalized and prescriptive learning program for your child. Each student follows the program with the help of specially trained Mathnasium math tutors who provide instruction—and lots of warm encouragement. For proof of progress, they rely on the student's report card, independent tests, and parent testimony to measure the speed and magnitude of improvement in math skills, numerical thinking, and attitude.

I have never lived near a Mathnasium so I can’t comment on it. I would love to hear some feedback from my visitors.

With your permission, they can even partner with your child's teacher to ensure progress made at Sylvan is also seen in the classroom.

I have heard wonderful things about Sylvan but have not visited them. I would love to hear some feedback from my visitors.

  • Time4Learning

Time4Learning (on-line learning, monthly fee required)

Time4Learning is a convenient, online home education program that combines learning with fun educational teaching games. It’s a new approach to learning that takes advantage of today’s technology.

They offer comprehensive online language arts and math programs for preschool, elementary school, and middle school. Science and social studies programs are provided as a free bonus for most grades. The Time4Learning educational teaching program gives students’ independence to progress at their own pace. Kids use the computer to learn and develop their skills. Time4Learning tracks your child’s progress and helps them advance along an individualized learning path where they will master the skills and concepts needed for academic success.

My children have been students of Time4Learning for years. I really like the program. It is definitely meant to be a full time at home learning program and is most often used for home schooling. I use it as a place for them to continue learning all subjects during random times. Once they have learned for 25 min they get to go to the playground on the site which is a lot of fun.

  • Tutoring Club

    Tutoring Club
At Tutoring Club, their goal is to bring each student to the desired academic level as quickly as possible using their exclusive TutorAid system.

Tutoring Club specializes in reading, math (from the basics through calculus), writing, study skills and SAT preparation. They use the most advanced curriculum in tutoring combined with a positive learning environment, resulting in more learning per hour. They also maintain low student-to-tutor ratios so every student receives a wealth of individualized instruction from qualified tutors who are committed to your child's success. Tutoring Club tutors strive to pinpoint problems and track required skills to correct them. They will even work with your child's classroom teachers to ensure success at school.

My kids attended Tutoring club this past summer. I liked it very much for Livvy, my 4th grader, she went once a week and had no problem jumping right in. I think Kennedy, my Kindergartner, would have benefited from more days a week. Both girls enjoyed attending. For Livvy I was able to customize each weeks lesson which she loved. Kennedy was using their early reading program. They do not have an early math program for Kindergarten.
